Week 8 - Guest Lecturer
Today we had a visit from Belinda Collins, an Experience Lead at UON. She was able to talk a little about her different roles leading up to her current position, as well as provide insights about her experience with group work. She introduced us to a browser-based app called Mural. co which seemed to work very well, especially with all the different users connected at once. I seem to remember Stormboard being a little more problematic, but I would like to use them both more. I think Mural was demonstrated perfectly and her experience with organising people’s ideas about a product made it easy to see its usefulness.
Belinda was a great example of a UX designer who could see the bigger picture. Designers can imagine the world from the viewpoints of co-workers, clients, end-users, and consumers (current and prospective). Designing with "people first" in mind is a great way to start. Thinkers can envision solutions that are intrinsically better. desirable and satisfy explicit or oblique demands Great Design thinkers take minute observations of the world. detail. They notice things that others do not, and they are observant. Make use of their knowledge to spark new ideas (Harvard Business Review, 2020).
